On March 6, 2020, the AIB Western Europe organized the workshop “The Future of Global Mobility” at the University of Goettingen, Germany.
Inspiring international scholars: Thirty-seven participants from twelve countries joined the AIB Western Europe workshop on “The Future of Global Mobility”. The workshop welcomed established and emerging scholars to discuss the state of the art and develop ideas for future research on global mobility. The keynote speakers Guenter Stahl, Sebastian Reiche, Dries Faems and Jaime Bonache shared their personal experiences and gave inspiring presentations on their research.
Defining future research directions: In the spirit of a workshop, we had two highly interactive sessions breaking our group into small groups to allow deeper discussions. In the morning, we had five parallel interactive paper sessions where scholars presented their paper ideas and received in-depth feedback from colleagues. In the afternoon, we had five discussion groups to identify future research directions in global mobility research. Some of the topics of the conference were migration, new types of expatriates, career and talent management, new trends in methodology and the future of digitalization.
We are grateful to all keynote speakers, session chairs, discussion-leaders and all participants for the successful workshop and look forward to seeing you again at our future events!
